Bear Hunts
Thank you for your interest in a guided bear hunt. Here at Hooksetters we do everything we can to make sure that you have a successful and enjoyable hunt.
We guide in Zone "B' and "C". Stand hunting only over bait. We do not run dogs.
Todd Schoepke and his son with Wyatt with Wyatt's black bear.
Our hunts are for 5 days and include pre-baited stands that are being actively hit on a daily basis. We do not run dogs. I would say that 95% of our stands are on private property in Shawano and Langlade counties, but we do have some locations in Marathon and Lincoln County. We have been doing this for a long time and have acquired a lot of prime private land for hunting purposes, literally thousands of acres. We put a lot of time and effort into making sure that our customers are successful. Our bait sets are visited by myself or one of my guides throughout the summer and fall and checked and re-baited at least every other day. We have trail cameras on all of our bait sets so we can see what is going on and to help determine where to put our hunters.
Throughout the summer we will keep our hunters up to date on what is going on with photos from our trail cameras and any new updates through emails. Also during the summer months I will send out a questionnaire to find out a little more about the hunters. For the questionnaire will ask what kind of weapon are you shooting, what kind of stand do you prefer, what are your expectations, etc… All this will help me determine where to place you on a stand location and what type of hunt you want. I do this to make sure we give you the most enjoyable and successful hunt you can have.
Our rate for a 5 day hunt is $1600.00 but it does not include lodging. If you wish to bring along an additional person to sit in the stand with you it is an extra $150.00. We require a 50% deposit to reserve your hunt and the remainder is due at the time of the hunt. Once you get here we will have a short meeting with the hunters and I will set you up with your guide. The guide (which might be me) will get to know you a little bit, go over some things, and then we will take you to your stand and get you situated for the hunt. Once you shoot your bear we will help you retrieve the bear, take photos, and get it out of the woods and loaded up. I also have a gentleman that processes the bears for us if needed and I also have a very good taxidermist that our clients can use if you don’t already have one.
We do not offer dog hunts.
